New Government House To Reach 85% Completion By End Of January, Ikpeazu Assures

Completion of the New Government House Umuahia initiated by the immediate past administration of Chief T.A Orji would soon be a reality as Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that the project would be 85 percent completed by the end of January this year.

Governor Ikpeazu who made the disclosure while addressing Journalists after inspecting the progress of work at the new Government House,Ogurube Layout Umuahia expressed hope that the completion deadline set by the state government would be met.

National Ambassador Reporter who was part of the Inspection visit observed that tiling and other internal works have been completed at the project site.

 

Ikpeazu who is visiting the project site a second time in the last four weeks since his last visit, commended the contractor for working inline with the state government’s vision of achieving 100 % completion before the end of his tenure.

He expressed happiness that work is progressing steadily with landscaping going on simultaneously and assured that glazing, railing ceiling among others will be completed in the coming weeks.

 

The Governor said; “We have managed to sustain about a hundred workers in the past eight weeks and i think that the work is getting some good traction.

“I am sure that by 30th of this month, we will do all the glazing work, doors, railings. Tile work is complete and the ceiling work will be ready by then also.

 

“This building will be 85% complete by the 30th of this month and I’m also impressed by what i see outside. The landscaping work, is going on simultaneously. It is a massive building sitting on almost 4000 square meters and I am optimistic that we will meet our deadline which is to occupy here before 29th May”, Ikpeazu concluded.

The Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, Commissioner for Information Dr Eze Chikamnayo, Commissioner for Housing,Chief Chinagorom Nwankpa,  the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahiwe among other government functionaries accompanied the Governor on the Inspection visit.
