Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), has declared the force’s zero-tolerance policy towards gender-based violence during its operations. This announcement came during a workshop on sexual abuse and gender-based violence in conflict settings, held in N’Djamena, Chad.
The workshop, aimed at deepening understanding of the complexities surrounding sexual exploitation and gender-based violence in operational areas, was highlighted in a statement by MNJTF’s Chief of Military Public Information, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi.
Gen Ali pointed out MNJTF’s significant role in rescuing thousands of women and girls from terrorist groups, demonstrating the force’s commitment to human rights and the protection of vulnerable communities. He underscored the importance of safeguarding individuals, especially women and girls, from gender-based violence in conflict zones.
Expressing his gratitude to the African Union Mission Support Team for organizing the training, Gen Ali emphasized the necessity of incorporating strategies to prevent and address gender-based violence within military operations. He stressed that the MNJTF’s firm stance on this issue reflects its dedication to creating a safe and secure environment for everyone impacted by conflict and instability.
