IGP Visits Abia,Commissions Projects By Ikpeazu Adminstration

 

The Inspector General of Police(IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, Tuesday, officially commissioned the Eastern Ngwa Divisional Police Headquarters, Umuobiakwa,Obingwa LGA built by Abia state Government.

Also commissioned by the IGP include the Police Children’s School in Obingwa LGA also built and completed by the Okezie Ikpeazu adminstration.

 

Recall that Governor Ikpeazu in furtherance to his commitment to various security agencies in the state, had two years ago completed and handed over the Zone 9 Police Station Umuahia to the Nigerian Police in addition to provision of security vehicles and other logistics support to the Force.

 

Speaking at the Ceremony, Ikpeazu who had earlier handed over the DPO’s Quarters also built by his adminstration to the IGP, assured that he would continue to provide logistics to security agencies to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

He noted that the facility, which contained an armory and other facilities, was built according to police standard and furnished with 24 hours power supply which will aid the job of the police.

 

Ikpeazu, appreciated the service chiefs for their cooperation and hardwork as well as officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force for their selfless service and charged the IGP to continue to encourage them for optimal performance.

The Governor who disclosed that the cordial working relationship between the state government and security agencies has yielded positive results, attributed the prevailing peace in the state to the robust working relationship with all security agencies in the state.

He used the occasion to warn hoodlums and miscreants across the state to move away from Abia as there would be no hiding place for them during this Yuletide and going forward, pointing out that government has resolved to keep the state safe.

 

Commissioning the Police station, the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba appreciated Governor Ikpeazu for the well thought out initiative and assured that the edifice would be used by the Police Force to serve the community, Abia and Nigeria at large.

The Inspector General of Police used the forum to thank Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for bequeathing to the zone 9 police Umuahia a permanent accommodation and launching of an ICT-driven security architecture in line with international best practices.

 

He said that the Governor has through the gesture imprinted his name on the sands of time as the police most friendly Governor and charged men of the Nigerian Police Force to protect and defend the facility as their own.

In their goodwill messages, the chairman Obingwa LGA Mrs Uloma Nwogu, the Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers,Eze Joseph Nwabekee and Chief Ike Onyenweaku congratulated the governor on his developmental projects across the state including the security of lives and property of the citizenry and expressed optimism that he would do more in the Senate come 2023.

 

The AIG Zone 9 Umuahia, Isaac Akinmoyede ,State Commissioner of Police,Mr Muhammad Bala; Service Chiefs; the SSG, Mr Chris Ezem ;Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahaiwe; Commissioner for Information, Eze Chikamnayo among other members of the state Executive Council, witnessed the occasion.

The IGP later commissioned the newly completed one storey edifice of the Ubakala Divisional Police Headquarters as well as the Special Protection Unit Building at Zone 9 Headquarters Umuahia.
