Gov Ikpeazu Swears In Nkoro As New Commissioner For Industry, Inaugurates Members Of ABSIEC

Abia State Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn in Barr. Akujiobi Nkoro as the new Commissioner for Industries in the Abia State Executive Council.

Barr Nkoro replaces Chief Mrs Uwaoma Olewengwa who resigned her appointment based on personal reasons.

 

Speaking during the swearing in Ceremony held at the Executive Council Chambers Government House, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu who equally inaugurated members of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), headed by the subsisting chairman, Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa, charged them to acquit themselves creditably and add value to the state government and Abians in general.

The Governor while welcoming the new commissioner into the Abia State Executive Council, noted that the Ministry of Industries is very strategic and important to the state Government especially the Enyimba Automated shoe Factory and the Garment Industry which he said would provide employment opportunities to over 500 Abians.

Ikpeazu who disclosed that equipments for the establishment of the Garment Industry has arrived the state, urged the newly sworn in commissioner to protect the equipments as well as align himself with the ministry to achieve desired results.

He commended the Subsisting Chairman of ABSIEC,Prof Mkpa for conducting two state elections within the lifespan of his administration and urged him to prepare the proposal for the conduct of the last state election before the expiration of his tenure and expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated team would bring verve and vigor to the commission.

In their separate responses, the Commissioner for Industries, Barr. Akujuobi Nkoro and the ABSIEC subsisting Chairman, Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for finding them worthy to serve the state in different capacities and assured that they would work assiduously in line with the objective of the present administration to achieve the desired results.

 

Commissioners of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission include;

Prince Dan Okoli, Onyebinanma Sunday Onyebinanma, Dan Onwutuebe, Henry Okachie Okere, Enyinnaya Ezere and Mrs Precious Achumba.

While Mr Onyekachi Dinneya is to serve as Secretary of the commission.
