Ezem, Okiyi, Nwabekee, Others, Smile Home As Okey Ahiwe Clinches PDP Guber Ticket
Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia state, could not curtail their joy, as they were seen smiling home to the victory of the immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor of the State, Chief Okey Ahiwe, who defeated other five contestants in the just concluded PDP Guber Primary Rerun, to emerge as the standard bearer of the Party in the forth coming March 11, poll.
After a keenly Contest, a total of 516 votes were cast, 12 invalid votes were recorded and the Deputy Governor of the State, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu,as well as, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe,polled a total of 12 votes each, while Sampson Orji polled 11 votes and Sen Emma Nwaka Zero vote, leaving Chief Okey Ahaiwe clinching the Party’s ticket with a total of 469 votes.
Expressing their views to Newsmen shortly after the election results were announced, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr Chris Ezem, expressed happiness over the peaceful exercise, saying that the emergence of Chief Okey Ahiwe as the new PDP guber candidate,is not a misfit, as the candidate is a house hold name for his kindness, gentlemanliness, peaceful disposition among others.
Barr. Ezem revealed that the new PDP candidate is being loved by all, stating that, it was exemplified with the massive votes polled and as well, with the number of Aspirants that stepped down for him.

He expressed optimism that it would be a rollercoaster to victory for the PDP in the coming polls, because of the choice of Okey Ahiwe, stating that over 78% of Abia voters are in the PDP.
The Commissioner for Trade and Investment/Head Strategic Engagement,PDP Campaign Council, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, beckoned on Abians to join hands with Okey Ahiwe to deliver PDP in the General Elections.
Chief Okiyi Kalu who described the new Guber candidate as humble,well lettered, experienced and calculative, said the PDP has given Abians the candidate they wanted, maintaining that his emergence is an highway to victory for the PDP.
The Trade Commissioner, however lauded the process that brought in Okey Ahiwe, saying it was transparent and beautifully conducted,with adequate security.
The Immediate past Chairman of Osisioma Local Government Area, Hon Ikechukwu Nwabekee, who described the process as homogeneous, pointed out that for a candidate to poll over 90% of votes cast, shows that he is well accepted by the people.He added that Abia is PDP and come March 11,they would deliver.
Members of the PDP were seen jubilating, chanting songs of victory.
