ENUGU: The All Progressive Congress (APC) Enugu State Installs Disciplinary Committee To Investigate A Former Senator, Sen. Ken Nnamani

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Enugu State has set up a Disciplinary Committee to investigate a former Senate President, Sen. Ken Nnamani, of alleged anti-party activities.

Also to be investigated are Ozor Joe Mmamel, and Mr. Maduka Arum, also known as Mama.

This was the outcome of the APC State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held recently at the APC State Secretariat in Enugu.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, the Party’s State Secretary, Mr. Robert Ngwu, said the investigation has became important following petition against the former Senate President bothering in anti-party activities.

Ngwu disclosed that the petition accused the APC chieftain of openly campaigning for the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Mbah at a rally held at the Michael Okpara Square Enugu on January 20th 2023.

According to him, Nnamani was represented at the rally by Mr. Ben Nwoye, an expelled former Chairman of the party, who has been working against the APC and Arum, whom he described as head of Nnamani Political group.

He regretted that in 2019, the former lawmaker led APC to a disastrous outing where they garnered only 2 per cent of the total vote cast, as he and his fellow conspirators pocked all the campaign funds, divided it amongst themselves, and gave no dime to the ward.

“Ken Nnamani has had a history of Anti-party activities. He joined APC from PDP some years ago and has consistently campaigned against APC candidates, including Sen. Ayogu Eze, in 2019.

“The Party could not bring him to order because the Party then had no moral authority under the leadership of Mr. Ben Nwonye.

“This was the reason no delegate agreed to vote for him when he contested for Deputy National Chairman, scoring only one vote. Likewise, when he contested for the presidency at last year’s APC convention,, he scored zero votes.

“Ken Nnamani, Peter Mba and Governor Ugwuanyi are the sponsors of a group of unrepentant former party officials led by A.C Udeh, who is a member of Peter Mba’s Campaign team and whom the trio have been funding to destabilize our Party.

“They (A.C Udeh and others) were financed with 20 Million Naira of tax payer’s money to lead PDP members to APC National Headquarters in Abuja to lay false claims of Nonexistent financial fraud of N1.3 Billion against Chief Uche Nnaji, our Guber Candidate, and the Hon. Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah”, Ngwu added.

He hinted that the State Executive Committee of the Party has forwarded all the petitions, and the fact-finding reports to the State Disciplinary Committee for investigation and recommendation of appropriate sanctions.

Ngwu added that the Party would not hesitate to suspend or expel the accused, if found guilty by the Disciplinary Committee.

On his part, the APC State Chairman, Mr. Ugochukwu Agballah, asked the Committee to ensure that the accused are given fair hearing during the investigation, and also invite them for the investigation.

Agballah said a campaign support group known as Independent Presidential Campaign Council, headed by Nnamani and Nwoye has been banned, and accused the duo of using the Campaign Council to campaign for the PDP as well as negotiating for political positions.
