Emergence Of Okey Ahiwe As PDP Guber Candidate,A Reflection Of Majority Wishes — Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has described the emergence of his former Chief of staff, Okey Ahiwe as the candidate of the PDP for the March 11th, 2023 Gubernatorial Election in the State as the reflection of the wishes of the greater number of party members across the State.

Governor Ikpeazu who stated this Saturday,while reacting to the successful conclusion of the primary election which held at the Umuahia Township Stadium assured that Ahiwe’s emergence would energize the party to victory in the coming elections.

The Governor, in a press statement made available to Journalists by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka also described the successful conduct of the fresh Gubernatorial Primary Election of the PDP in the State as a clear evidence of the strength and resilience of the party,

According to him, the hitch free conduct of the guber primary election of the PDP in Abia, is a testimony of “the robustness of internal democratic mechanisms of the party, not just in the State but across the country”.

“I have no doubts about the ability of the party to surmount the challenge posed by the sad demise of Professor Uche Ikonne and to rise from the ashes of the despair occasioned thereby to become even stronger.

“I am particularly delighted with the peaceful atmosphere that characterized the election as well as the maturity of the delegates and the aspirants”, he said.

Governor Ikpeazu expressed gratitude to the National Leadership of the party for standing by the State Chapter as it continues to navigate through the complexities posed by the death of Professor Ikonne.

He appreciated the Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the Party for the Abia State Primary Election and Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki and members of his Committee for the deep sense of patriotism and commitment to the ideals of democracy which they exhibited in the conduct of the primary election, assuring the party leadership that Abia will continue to remain a PDP state, as it has been since 1999.

The Governor also lauded the Asiforo Okere led leadership of the party in the State for their hardwork and commitment to ideals of internal democracy in the party.
