CHAN QUALIFIERS: Ghana stop Nigeria again
Barely five months after the Black Stars of Ghana qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the expense of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Ghana has stopped Nigeria from qualifying for the Africa Nations Championship billed to hold in Algeria next year.
The competition, which is meant for players plying their trade in their home league will not have the home based Super Eagles for the second successive editions.
After losing 2-0 to Ghana in the first leg of the qualifiers, the home based Super Eagles won the return leg 2-0 today.
With aggregate score tied on 2-2, the game went into penalties and the Galaxies of Ghana won 5-4.
Other teams that qualified for the competition are host Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Senegal, Mauritania, Mali and Niger Republic.
