The Anambra State government has distanced itself from fraudulent messages circulating on various platforms, falsely claiming that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is offering an N2 billion empowerment grant to 5000 Anambra youths. In a press statement on Friday, the government urged the public to disregard the misleading information.
The scam message not only made false claims about the empowerment grant but also provided a link, encouraging individuals to apply for the supposed grant and share the information for others to benefit.
According to the government’s statement, “The Anambra State Government categorically disclaims this message in its entirety and hereby informs the public that it is a blatant scam.” The government emphasized its commitment to genuine youth empowerment through initiatives like the ‘1 Youth, 2 Skills’ program, which focuses on equipping young people with practical skills for employability and entrepreneurship.
The statement further warned that the government does not engage in any form of cash transfer program through the fraudulent link provided in the scam message (“https://slnkz.com/2bn-grant-empowerment-online-reg“). Accessing or providing personal information through this link poses a significant risk to individuals.
The government advised citizens to verify information through official channels such as government websites, press releases, and official social media handles. It emphasized that authentic information regarding government empowerment programs and initiatives is disseminated through these channels.
Stressing the commitment to youth welfare and empowerment in the right way, the statement urged citizens to remain vigilant, exercise caution, and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
