AFCON: Atlas Lions Roar into Last 16
The Atlas Lions of Morocco have qualified for the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Comoros Island 2-0.
Selim Amallah opened scoring for the North Africans after a goal mouth scramble on the 16th minute. Late into the game Zakaria Aboukhlal put the icing on the cake with the second goal.
However, the man of the match went to the Comoros goalkeeper, Salim Ben Boina, who plays for a lower league club in France. He was magnificent between the sticks. He even saved a penalty. It was his heroics that kept the score line respectable.
The Black Stars of Ghana will take on Gabon in the groups’ second match tonight.
The last group matches of the group will hold on Tuesday when Ghana will tread tackles with Comoros Island while Morocco will battle Gabon.
