Abia NAWOJ Holds New Year Thanksgiving Service, Sensitize Citizens On PVC Collection

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ),Abia State Chapter, Sunday, held her New Year Thanksgiving Service, an annual spiritual exercise which affords members of the Pen Profession gather every new year in Church to appreciate God for His faithfulness and mercies.

The event which was held at the Kingdom Glory Christan Centre (KGCC), Umuahia, also afforded the Association led by the State Chairman Comrade Josephine Ogwo, opportunity to sensitize citizens on the need to collect their Permanent Voters Card.


In his sermon,the Lead Pastor of KGCC, Pastor Dickson Okoroafor commended the leadership of NAWOJ for the wisdom to appreciate God through Thanksgiving.


Pastor Okoroafor who spoke on the topic;  “Wisdom for Exceeding Greatness”, noted that a high level of wisdom is required for one to excel in life and enjoined Christians to always seek God’s wisdom in all they do.

Describing prayer as a weapon of Victory designed by God which enhances spiritual authority, the Clergyman urged Christmas to seek God’s face through the pathway of prayer and fasting.


In her remarks earlier, the
State Chairman, NAWOJ, Comrade Josephine Ogwo, stated that members of the Association came to thank God for leading them through last year as well as rededicate themselves for the new year.


Comrade Ogwo, used the forum to appeal to citizens on the need to utilize the two day public holiday by the Abia state Government to collect their Permanent Voter Card saying, “it is the only weapon you have to vote in credible leaders of your choice”.

She said: “Alot of us are not happy with the way things are going on in this country. How can we express our anger against the government or our elected leaders if we don’t have our PVCs?.


“Our PVC is the only way to take back out country. We should not allow politicans hijack the political space. With our PVC, we should make a difference in determining who governs us”.


The Service which had members of the Association file out in their numbers in Thanksgiving to God also featured prayers for the NAWOJ members, the State and the Nation.
