2023: Ohanaeze Ndigbo Warns Party Supporters Against Hitting Up Abia Polity
The Abia State Chapter of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has warned supporters of various political parties in the state to desist from any act, capable of hitting up state polity, threatening to blacklist politicians who sponsor activities detrimental to the peaceful coexistence in the state.
Reacting to the recent atracks carried out by supporters of Sen Orji Uzor Kalu and the 2023 Abia APC gubernatorial candidate, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, during the just concluded APC rally in Umuahia, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Abia State Chapter, Comr Paul Nwankwo, during a Press briefing, frowned at the display of shame by these two sons of Abia state, stating how their supporters threw caution to the wind at the APC Presidential rally cum Governorship flag off, held at the Umuahia Township Stadium, to cause mayhem.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo vehemently condemned the act, stating that It is abominable and as well, an act capable of eroding the peace and stability in the state, which is not in tandem with the political rules of engagement, warning therefore, party supporters against hitting up the polity.
He added that Abians are peace loving people, blessed with a Governor whose profound leadership style has enabled an atmosphere conducive for developmental growth, stressing that it is a shame to practice politics of bitterness, acrimony and rancor, within a state that is as peaceful as heaven, maintaining that the Apex body of all Igbo organization, would nolonger tolerate it.
He disclosed some of the resolutions of the organization, wherewith they implored the youths to know that they do not have any other state than Abia, advising every indigene to be mindful of his or her life, conduct themselves with decorum and never allow politicians whose selfish interest rest solely on their inordinate ambitions, to hoodwink or cajole them into violence and unnecessary death as a result of election.
“If any breakdown of law and orderliness is recorded as a result of the shenanigans of few disgruntled political gladiators, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will not hesitate to blacklist those involved”, he said.
The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Abia State, however, stated that the organization would set up a Bi-partisan Election Monitoring Committee, to ensure that all political players maintain the constitutional rules of engagement, stating the group’s readiness to partner with the Governor of Abia state, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, to finish strong and handover to the new governor in the atmosphere of peace.
